Hello everyone,
I used to be on Twitter. A lot. It was a vice of mine.
At first, I was galvanized by seeing people agree with me. My favorite Twitter wizards provided entertaining takes, clever arguments, and fantastic insight into life, politics, and philosophy.
However, I noticed too late that I spent too much time on Twitter and was not learning anything new. I gained nothing from my frequent visits except emotional highs I was eager to recreate.
Yes, the government is terrible, our society is full of depravity, and so on, but what should I do about it? My favorite Twitter personalities had the hot takes to keep me hooked, but they had no practical advice.
My vitality was being stolen. I consumed news, politics, and rage porn but had nothing to act on. I was fired up and passionate, but my only viable solution was to keep reading.
I eventually quit Twitter and most political conversations. I’m a political normie, but I’m more active in my own life. I am working to create my destiny.
Listening to media personalities is different from actual action. You love the hot takes, and your guy dunked on the other guy. So what? Are you stronger? Do you have greater emotional control? Have you accomplished anything significant today?
We need individuals willing to step into debate circles and have tough conversations. But for most of us, we should restrict our consumption. There are more pressing things that you need to work on.

Become An Individual Post Steps
Are you interested in creating blog posts? Today, I want to pull the curtain back and detail how I make my blog posts for Become An Individual.
This technique took around three years to perfect. I’ll describe it over the next few weeks.
Part 3: Idea Dumping
Make editorial improvements
Control adverbs and adjectives – avoid weak nouns
Utilize the best verbs. Shorten verbs, reduce repetitive verbs, avoid nouning
Remove “be” and “becoming”
Eliminate “that,” “there is,” and other pointless qualifiers.
Look for “of”
Be on the lookout for “it” and “was.”
Avoid redundancies – have you stated this idea already?
Make sure certain words aren’t repeating
Create a table of contents for easy reading
Cut unnecessary words
The third set of steps was inspired by ON WRITING WELL BY WILLIAM ZINSSER, one of the best books I’ve ever read on writing.
I try to implement these techniques throughout the blog post, trying as best I can to eliminate the fluff.
I’m not always successful, but pushing myself to look for common signs of weak writing is crucial to sharpening what I have.
I also look to gut words and remove repetition. This step usually takes just a day.
